Being that the iPhone is coming out tomorrow, you might need some content to fill it up with right? Sure there’s music and videos, but have you heard of a little thing called a podcast? Imagine all the news that you want to know, portable, in nice thirty minutes or up to two hour chunks. There are podcast for everything from calculus lecturers to cooking. I’m sure you could even learn how to speak another language from a few of them as well.
Today boys and girls, I would like to give you my top 5 favorite video game podcast. I’ve listened to a lot of podcast geared toward video game and I think that these 5 outshine all of the rest. Yes they are ranked in order and no I don’t care if you agree with me or not. Interested? I thought so.

#5. SideScrollers on ScrewAttack.com

Now this one made the list because these guys are entertaining. They don’t do as much video game related stories as the rest of them on this list but they get the job done. You might have seen one of their many Top 10 list floating around Digg or some other game website.

#4. Major Nelson

If you own a Xbox 360 and you want to stay on top of what’s going in that world then this podcast is for you. What better place to get your Xbox information than from someone that actually works for the company? That’s right, there isn’t. Granted, Major Nelson is a one man show littered with interviews and the occasional guest E. Don’t know who E is? Basically anytime Live goes down, this is the guy who fixes it. You would know that if you listened to the show.

#3. Retronauts

Part of the 1UP family, Retronauts is one of those podcast that gets looked over a lot. On this show, they go back into the past and talk about classic games, genres, and even awesome series like Mega Man or Zelda. This podcast is great for those who want to reminisce or for all of those noobs who don’t know their gaming history.

#2. GameSpot presents the Hotspot

To find all of your gaming news, releases, and humor in one podcast, this is the place to go. The guys on this show are hilarious and they actually give out news regarding what happened the past week in the gaming world. What’s also awesome about this crew is they take emails and phone calls! I’ve been on the show a few times and it’s awesome to hear someone answer your question, no matter how dumb it maybe. I’m sure you’ll be hooked after one listen.

If you are going to pick only one podcast to get your news from, game related of course, then this is your choice. Not only will you get news related to what you love, but you also get intelligent people actually discussing and debating issues that face the game industry on the whole. The guys at 1UP yours know how to deliver the news in away that’s not only informative but it’s great entertainment as well. Go ahead, what are you waiting for? Click the link already!
