I added a nifty little “Share This” button courtesy of AlexKing.org. It gets clipped by embedded video, so sometimes it is awkward to use, but overall it’s pretty snazzy. I never even knew about some of these site.

Hardcore Gamers Gone Wrong

[News Article]

A couple authorities say were so obsessed with the Internet and video games that they left their babies starving and suffering other health problems have pleaded guilty to child neglect.

This husband and wife gaming couple inherited $50,000. Then used it to buy a large plasma screen TV and high-end computer equipment. Then proceeded to play online video games together while their two helpless kids starved. WTF?

What the hell is wrong with these people? I hope they get the full 12 years in prison. If you were unemployed with two kids and inherited 50 grand, would you just waste it like that? These people must have no soul, how do you forget you have kids to take care of?

And I thought this quote was a bit much:

“As we become more technologically advanced, there’s more distractions,” Killen said. “It’s easy for someone to get addicted to something and neglect their children. Whether it’s video games or meth, it’s a serious issue, and (we) need to become more aware of it.”

Comparing video games to meth?

Burnout Crash

Good reason number 2 to have a PS3

This game looks amazing. Killzone 2. Halo killer? I think not, I never actually played the first Killzone so I don’t know how the story goes. But do I really need to know the story to play a FPS? Exactly. I’ll be picking this one up whenever it decides to get released.

Shark Week

Shark Week 20th Anniversary

It is almost here, one of my favorite weeks of the year is almost upon us. Shark Week kicks off on July 29 with a two-hour special telling the story of the USS Indianapolis and narrated by Richard Dreyfuss. Awesome.

…eight all-new programs will air at 9 p.m. ET/PT, joining 103 other programs that have aired since SHARK WEEK’s birth in 1988. Additionally, Discovery Channel will fill its programming schedule from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. (ET/PT) with shark documentaries…

That’s 18 hours of sharks a day for 6 1/2 days totaling over 100 hours of shark goodness.

When will they make it a national holiday? I should get off work for this.

A good reason to have a PS3

The game is called Heavenly Sword and it looks amazing. I will be picking this up without a doubt.

Balance that checkbook with ease

I hate balancing a checkbook. The last time I actually manually balanced it was in 2001. Don’t get me wrong, I do keep track of my expenses but I use to have a great application on my Sidekick 3 that allowed me to do this on the fly. Now that I’ve bought the iPhone, yes I broke down and bought one, I no longer have this application. I dreaded the thought of manually balancing my checkbook and then I stumbled across this wonderful application.

The website is called ClearCheckbook and it’s essentially the same application I had on my Sidekick but in a web application form. The best thing about it is that it’s free! You can add as many accounts as you want, categories, and you can even withdraw transactions via text message or AIM. You can also get a Dashboard Widget, if you have a Mac, so you’re only a F12 away from seeing the balance of all your accounts. If you have a mobile device like the iPhone or any phone made in the last ten years, this application is for you. Oh, of course that recommendation is pending on if you actually have the need to balance a checkbook. I know there’s some spoiled people out there that have so much money that they don’t have to worry about balancing anything. I’m not that guy. Go check out the application and let me know what you think about it. The best way to see how it works is to actually use it.

Oh and you don’t link your bank accounts to this site, that would be insanely stupid. It’s just numbers and words kiddies, numbers and words.

Apparently I Like First Person Shooters … a lot.

There are so many games I want to get in the next few months. Too many. So I started making a list to keep all the release days straight. This is the “I-have-to-get-or-I-will-die” list, so there are a few more that I want, but probably won’t get. It comes out to almost $500 in video games, time to start saving up.
