COD4: Mile High Club Achievement

If I haven’t told you, I’m in love with Call of Duty 4. I’m currently not playing it right now because I’m cheating on COD4 with Mass Effect but that’s besides the point. I have around 800 points in the game right now and I don’t see any of the other achievements being that bad to obtain except this one called the Mile High Club. Basically, you have to beat the very last level, the one placing you on a plane, on Veteran difficulty. That alone wouldn’t be so bad if you didn’t have only 1 minute to do so. If you’ve gotten this achievement already, you’re a bad ass in my eyes. Although I see this achievement as extremely insane, here’s a video of someone actually doing it. Notice his excellent use of flash grenades during his carnage.

A light in the darkness

Here at Lawn of the Month, we like to touch on all aspects of the video game world. With so much negative feedback and press towards an industry that we see a lot of good in, it’s always nice to share a story, or in this case a link, that reflects the good that video games bring to the world.

I originally saw this YTMND in a forum and quickly dismissed it because frankly, I hate that site. But I saw it again on Digg and decided to check it out. This is a great story about a child and his mom who played Animal Crossing. I’m not going to spoil it for you but you can check the story out here. Unless you are just a heartless person, the story should be emotionally moving. I hope the general press picks this up because it’s a great example of how video games can and do warm the heart :) . Enjoy.

Bite Size Reviews by Lawn of the Month: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

I absolutely love this game! They got so many things right that I didn’t even cover in the video that begs to be talked about. Unforteunetly they are spoilers so I encourage to pick up this game or rent it at your local video store and play it. That’s it, watch the video and let me know what you think of the new format. It’s a little rough but I’m hoping to improve upon it.

Blast from the Past: The Sega Channel

Some of you might be to young to remember this but back in 1994 Time Warner and Sega teamed up to create what was something very very forward thinking and ahead of it’s time: The Sega Channel. “What is the Sega Channel?” someone of you say. We’ll let’s take a little trip down memory lane and dissect what was one of the best ideas that was lost in the wind.

2007: A great year to be a gamer.

Damn it feels good to be a gamer. Just this week two huge titles are coming out: Super Mario Galaxy and Assassin’s Creed. This year has already seen some innovative, amazing, and down right epic games which have pushed the industry even further.

Join me as we take a brief journey through what this year has offered us and will offer us as this year comes to a close.

Note: Not all games this year reflected in this video nor are all platforms represented. I really wanted to use this song in a video and I couldn’t think of a more perfect way. I mean I could but this will work for now until I can get my hand on some expensive fireworks. Enjoy.

This is why I’m not buying Guitar Hero 3

At least not for the 360. You know why? Because the achievements are gawd awful. Now don’t get me wrong, if you are l33t in the ways of Guitar Hero, you might look at this list and ask me why am I complaining. But for those people like me who can beat Hard mode and skim by on some songs on Expert see this list and see a list of failure that will forever be on our gamer profile. And yes, I care that much but stick with me here.
