You have to burn the rope

You have to play this game. Play the game, beat it, listen to the song, and enjoy.

I don’t know why I love this game so much but I do, it speaks volumes on the way some game developers make their games. Enjoy :) .

My GRAND THEFT AUTO 4 REVIEW…of the special editon

It finally arrived to my place on Thursday

Being the obsessive special edition freak that I am, I had to do a review on the Grand Theft Auto 4 Special Edition that Rockstar was awesome enough to put together.

Best Buy + HD-DVD + Impatience = 50 bucks?

My setup :)
I still love you little drive

It looks like Best Buy is jumping on the bandwagon of stores who are offering their customers some type of “we’re sorry you’re a dumbass” consolation prize for the early adopters of HD-DVD. Today it was announced here that if you purchased a qualifying HD DVD player from Best Buy before February 23, 2008, you will be receiving a complimentary $50 Best Buy gift card. I know you’re probably asking yourself, “why would they do such a thing” and the answer is quite obvious and easy: Publicity is great and they aren’t really losing any money on this fiasco. Back in 2006, Best Buy reported a $43 million gain from used gift cards. That’s 43 million dollars of people who just didn’t use their gift cards: WTF?? You can be pretty certain that none of those people were gamers because we would use them the instance we received them, or at least put them towards a pre-order.

free money :)
free money is good money

Although the format war is over, I’m still happy with my purchase simply for the fact that I can pick up HD movies for the cheap. Granted I’ll eventually run out of options with the HD-DVD format, but I have roughly 558 movies to buy on the cheap. For instance: I can either purchase American Gangster for $14.99 on regular DVD or spend 3 more bucks and have the HD version that’s plays on any drive. For someone who collects movies, it’s pretty much a win-win for me.

So what did you do during the “great” format war? Did you wait on the sideline until one had risen victorious? Or did you just become a tech whore and buy them both like I did? Also, for those who did buy the add-on or a HD DVD player, are you keeping it?

From here on out, videogame is one word!

How many times have you typed videogames only to be told by FireFox or Word that you’re an idiot? I’m sure plenty; it sucks and it’s changing today. Will this catch on? Probably later than sooner. Will you look like a d-bag for typing videogames as one word and not two? Possibly for the foreseeable future. But in order for change to happen, you might have to look like a d-bag for a while. Imagine how many times the first genius who decided to milk a cow got flamed. I’m sure people made fun of him until he died because you can’t let something like that just slide. That would be like if I thought soy made you gay….Seriously though, why in the world would you just decide to milk a cow? What in hell was that guy thinking? On second thought, I don’t want to know.

Today will no longer be known as February 25th, but as the day the world declared in one voice: “We will not go quietly into the night!” We will not vanish without a fight! We’re going to live on! We’re going to survive! Today we celebrate our Independence Day!

Nostalgia Trips: The bond that ties us all

Face it: We gamers love our nostalgia trips. I think in order to truly call yourself a gamer (I’m leaving the hardcore talk out of it), that you need to know where games evolved from. The video game industry, like any other entertainment industry, has a back story worth learning and appreciating.

Spider-Man 3 succeeds where Assassin’s Creed failed

Recently, I picked up Spider-Man 3 for the 360 at a very cheap price (I think I paid 10 bucks for it). I also beat Assassin’s Creed early this year but more on that later. While playing through Spider-Man 3, I kept thinking to myself how much more awesome it would be if they had access to the engine that Assassin’s Creed used. AC is basically a Spider-Man game minus the web, annoying Kirsten Dunst, and a modern setting. Stick with me here.

GOW: Chains of Olympus 222 vs 333 mhz

While not working today and surfing the internet, I came across this interesting video regarding a game I am highly anticipating for next year; God of War: Chains of Olympus. I bought my PSP at launch and really haven’t played it aside from using it as a emulation machine.

Recently, Sony finally allowed developers to use the full potential of the processor bumping it from 222 mhz to 333. This video shows the difference 111 mhz can make and trust me, the difference is very apparent.

Blast from the Past: The Sega Channel

Some of you might be to young to remember this but back in 1994 Time Warner and Sega teamed up to create what was something very very forward thinking and ahead of it’s time: The Sega Channel. “What is the Sega Channel?” someone of you say. We’ll let’s take a little trip down memory lane and dissect what was one of the best ideas that was lost in the wind.

2007: A great year to be a gamer.

Damn it feels good to be a gamer. Just this week two huge titles are coming out: Super Mario Galaxy and Assassin’s Creed. This year has already seen some innovative, amazing, and down right epic games which have pushed the industry even further.

Join me as we take a brief journey through what this year has offered us and will offer us as this year comes to a close.

Note: Not all games this year reflected in this video nor are all platforms represented. I really wanted to use this song in a video and I couldn’t think of a more perfect way. I mean I could but this will work for now until I can get my hand on some expensive fireworks. Enjoy.

Hardcore Gamers Gone Wrong

[News Article]

A couple authorities say were so obsessed with the Internet and video games that they left their babies starving and suffering other health problems have pleaded guilty to child neglect.

This husband and wife gaming couple inherited $50,000. Then used it to buy a large plasma screen TV and high-end computer equipment. Then proceeded to play online video games together while their two helpless kids starved. WTF?

What the hell is wrong with these people? I hope they get the full 12 years in prison. If you were unemployed with two kids and inherited 50 grand, would you just waste it like that? These people must have no soul, how do you forget you have kids to take care of?

And I thought this quote was a bit much:

“As we become more technologically advanced, there’s more distractions,” Killen said. “It’s easy for someone to get addicted to something and neglect their children. Whether it’s video games or meth, it’s a serious issue, and (we) need to become more aware of it.”

Comparing video games to meth?
